Mother Love 2004
Lindsay Field , long time member of John Farnham’s band, and renowned vocalist in his own right, sings songs of love for Mothers to enjoy on his much anticipated debut album. Field has a very personal connection to this cause, his mother having had breast cancer twice.
The charity CD also boasts the support of Australian music industry icons John Farnham, Glenn Shorrock and Renee Geyer . Behind Field’s ‘liquid chocolate’ voice are some of the finest musicians in the country, all highly respected members of the Farnham band, with several tracks featuring the additional finesse of Sam See & Glyn Mason.
Fourteen tracks provide a brilliant blend of love songs crossing all genres. Farnham joins Field in a beautiful rendition of the classic Unchained Melody , also featured is a steamy duet with Renee Geyer, You’ve Got What It Takes and Shorrock and Field join voices for the Lennon/McCartney classic In My Life . Field delivers a luscious version of every mother’s favourite, Have I Told You Lately among other classic love songs.
Myer Managing Director Dawn Robertson said: “The CD gives people an opportunity to help the National Breast Cancer Foundation with its vital work which is focussed on finding the cure and causes of breast cancer which affects thousands of Australian women and families every year. At the same time, it provides a great mix of songs from a remarkable Australian talent. This is the first time Myer has released a special CD for Mother’s Day and we are very proud to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation as it celebrates 10 years of working with community.”
Australians, well renowned for their capacity to rally together behind an important cause, have a strong history of supporting Myer charity projects.
“ Research makes a significant contribution to the diagnosis, treatment and support of women with breast cancer,” says National Breast Cancer Foundation general manager Susan Murray . “ The Foundation is proud of its part in funding this progress over the last decade. However, the causes of breast cancer still elude us … there is much to be done.
“With the involvement and support of the Australian community, our goal of finding the cure, finding the cause can be realised,” Ms Murray says. “By purchasing a Myer Mother’s Day CD – a wonderful present for mum – you can help solve the breast cancer problem.”
John Farnham
Australian music legend says ‘with great love and respect’ of the CD – “Lindsay and I have been singing together for the better part of 20 years, I’m glad I finally got to sing on one of his projects.”
Glenn Shorrock
Legendary figure in the Australian music industry says: ‘Voices raised in harmony, always a pleasure, especially when one of them belongs to Lindsay Field.’
Renee Geyer
says of Field , ‘Lindsay has always struck me as a somewhat stylish, laidback and eternally hip character. Kind of a cross between Bryan Ferry, Frank Sinatra and (with that occasional gravel) Tom Waits.”
CD retails for $23.95 and is available exclusively at all Myer and Megamart outlets from April 5 to, Mother’s Day, May 9 ONLY.
